Friends Select School is seeking a part-time English Language Learner (ELL) Support Specialist to provide targeted academic and language development support to students who are English language learners. This is a one-year position beginning in September 2025, working 1-2 hours per day with a small group of students needing ELL support. The ELL Support Specialist will assess students’ language proficiency, deliver individualized instruction, and collaborate with learning specialists and classroom teachers to support students’ academic growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a weekly schedule for supporting ELL students through small group or one-on-one instruction based on assessments and student needs
- Assess student language proficiency, identify learning needs, create individualized support plans, and administer appropriate language testing, including annual TOEFL testing when appropriate
- Provide targeted instruction that builds English language skills and supports students’ academic success across subject areas
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify assignments, implement effective strategies, and support students within the regular curriculum
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and communicate regularly with all faculty, learning specialists, and divisional directors
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English Language Learning, English as a Second Language, or a related certification combined with a bachelor’s degree in another field.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in ELL/ESL instruction
