Middle School Dean of Students
Friends Select School is looking for a Middle School Dean of Students to support the overall student experience in the middle school, with emphasis on student conduct, social life, engagement, and culture. The dean partners with faculty, families, administrators to uphold school values, ensure a safe and inclusive environment, coordinate student programming and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise student behavior and administer conduct and disciplinary policies, including restorative practices
- Support student well-being, engagement, and community-building through activities, events, and co-curricular programs
- Communicate with teachers, advisors, families, and support staff regarding student conduct, concerns, and attendance
- Serve as a liaison to the Middle School Guidance Team and participate in student and family meetings as needed
- Support admissions through applicant interviewing, committee work, and participate in admissions events
- Review and publish the annual student/parent handbook and assist with opening/closing of the school year
- Teach or advise based on annual staffing needs or complete special projects assigned by division leadership
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Experience working with middle school students in an educational setting
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to implement restorative and relationship -based discipline
- Knowledge of adolescent development and student support practices
